All area residents are invited to help send the Greene County Ram softball team off to the state tournament Monday afternoon. The team will board a bus at the city diamond on E. Lincoln Way in Jefferson at 3 pm and travel west to Elm St en route to Harlan Rogers Sports Complex north of Fort Dodge. The public is asked to line Lincoln Way anywhere between the fairgrounds and Elm Street and to cheer for the team as the bus passes.
The Rams will play at 5 pm in a Class 3A quarterfinal game against Center Point-Urbana. Greene County is 27-7 and unranked. Center Point-Urbana is 28-9 and rated sixth in 3A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. If the Rams win, they’ll play at 7:30 pm Thursday. If they lose Monday, they’ll play in a consolation game Tuesday at 9:30 am.
